Plastic inkerless pens can write without sharpening knives and ink because the nib rubs against the paper, causing alloying metal molecules to break down and remain on the surface. The nib is made of metal and is very small. The color is similar to an ordinary pencil, and the writing is smooth. The writing is also easy to erase with an eraser. There's a long eraser in there that's easy to erase. With one permanent pencil, it can last longer than 50 traditional pencils without sharpening or changing the refill. 0.8" L x 0.8" W x 5.9" H
